Vehicles I Won’t Be Buying

Don’t get me wrong – the Audi TT Roadster is a fun little car. I got to drive around in one recently and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. 6-speed manual transmission with some real get-up-and-go. The interior is remarkably big for a two-seater – I had plenty of head, leg and side room which is more than I can say for some larger cars.

But boy is it small – and extremely impractical. The trunk didn’t look like it would hold a suitcase. Certainly not a set of golf clubs. But the thing I disliked the most was the poor visibility. I’m sure when the top is down this isn’t a problem, but seeing as this is Minnesota and our tops are up about half the year, poor visibility is a problem. Especially when you are driving in a car that will get squished like a bug if you hit something you didn’t see.

On the opposite end of the auto spectrum we find the Hummer. The H2 model is a bit more urbanized than the original, and it was the H2 that I found myself driving around in this weekend. I didn’t go over anything even so high as a curb so I can’t offer much of a review other than to say it’s big, it’s massive, and it’s ostentatious. You drive a Hummer if you want to be noticed.

One thing I did like about it was that I could rest my elbow on the window and could easily grasp the top of the window with my hand, something we like to do here in Minnesota about half the year too.

Audi TT Roadster. Hummer H2. Nothing could be further apart.
