I’m #1!

I’m now #1 on Google for joe millionaire winner. I just find this so funny. I mentioned the show in one article, made a couple of comments, and the next thing you know I’m 1/15,100 and getting a ton of hits (at least for me) for people trying to get a jump on the viewing audience.

I can’t help but think Larry and Sergey would have been failed at Stanford had blogging been big back then. I think blogs muck up the Googlerythms.

Curious…How did you get into Google? Did you submit the site yourself or did someone submit it for you?

If you link or are linked Google will find you eventually. I put the site up on the 26th of November, with my first post on December 6th – on the 8th I got my first visit from the Googlebot.

Now if I remember I did also submit at http://www.google.com/addurl.html but truthfully I can’t remember if that was later or not.

Probably can’t hurt…

I absolutely agree, John. I noticed a similar pattern awhile back, and am still pretty much convinced that blogs are playing too much havoc with search results. Your archive structure is nearly identical to mine — with titles creating file names — and I think that adds strength to the algorithm.

Well, I tried this experiment, with less success. Maybe because of redundant phrases? Maybe because it wasn’t a link?

FWIW, I did get some hits, just not a ton of them.

What’s also strange is that my ranking changes frequently. I’ll often click on my referrer logs, and the Google link to my blog is long since gone. Could be a function of blogger, instead of MT, and how they do archives.
