What a Girl Wants

The theater was about 75% full for a 2:30 showing of What a Girl Wants, but I would estimate no more than five or six adult males, including myself. I haven’t been around so many Junior High kids since, well, Junior High. But that was OK because I was there with my daughter, just the two of us together doing something on a rainy Saturday afternoon. It’s too easy for me as a dad to focus too much on my son, and I really cherish when Erin and I are able to spend time together like this.
Of course I’d better cherish these times, because it won’t be long before both of our kids enter that stage of their life where they want nothing whatsoever to do with their parents. If I remember right that lasts from about 9 until they start college.
College. Our kids. Damn, now I feel old.
Oh, and since I just read a couple of the negative reviews linked to via Google below I’d best add that I actually enjoyed it. It was more than I expected, was fun and touching, and we both liked it. If you have a young daughter I think it would make a great date.

Well if you can admit that, then I can admit that “About a Boy” was really good, even if it was a romantic comedy with Hugh Grant.
Wow, you are old.
I’m just at the point where my friends *starting* to have kids makes me feel old.
