Is there anywhere I can find out about really way back State Fairs? I sat for a portrait that was displayed at the Minn. state fair way back probably 1950, 51 0r 52. The artist was Phyllis Evans from St. Paul. We live across the street at 590 Eustis Ave. Thanks if you can help

Yes, indeedy, the Minnesota State Fair is quite possibly the finest celebration of the summer in the entire United States. I’ve lived in NYC since 1999 and I haven’t managed to make it back for the fair since I moved. I think 2004 is going to be the year. There’s only so long you can go without cheese on a stick, Sweet Martha’s cookies, The Big Slide, all while surrounded by a sweet sweet chorus of “oh yahhs.” Do I miss Minnesota? Youbetcha.

My auntie and uncle were over in that part of the world last week and visited the fair – apparently it was quite good. As it is they’re back in Britain now.
