Cab Fight

Saw an interesting scene on the way home from Chicago yesterday. Was just leaving the Sears tower when I heard some commotion at the front of the building along the street. A cab had pulled up to drop off a fare and then was about to pick another one u I think that is a no-no, there is usually a long line for the cabs and I suspect the rule is the guy has to go to the back of the line. Well, he didn’t.

The cabbie who had been waiting in line really didn’t take this well and he literally grabbed the unsuspecting fare’s bags and ushered her into his cab – bags in the trunk, her in the back.

The other cabbie appeared to take offense at that and managed to collar the guy right as he was getting back into his cab. By this time a security guard had shown up and was trying to talk some sense into them but it didn’t work. After about 30 seconds of face to face discussion they started duking it out. And the guard backed off and let them have at it. This was not Tyson v. Lewis by any stretch of the imagination and I doubt either of them got hurt. By this time I was across the street and just moving out of range.

All I could think about was that poor woman in the back of the cab, trapped. Her bags in the trunk and her cabbie engaged in a brawl while standing just inside his door.

Welcome to Chicago.

That is funny… but I bet it’s not reserved for Chicago only.
