The “Chicago Blogger Dinner”:http://www.rklau.com/tins/archives/2004/03/18/blogger_dinner_update.php, nineteen hearty souls strong, took place tonight at “Ben Pao”:http://dinesite.com/info/rstrnt-3700/?&t=64608 in Chicago and despite not being a Chicago Blogger I was welcomed in and enjoyed the company of other bloggers. It was a fairly diverse crowd although with an ABA Technology conference in town there was a proliferation of attorneys, but what really struck me was that this was a group of early adopters who were all finding unique ways to incorporate weblogs into their personal and professional lives.
I spent most of my time talking with Ernie, Buzz, Shannon, Mike, Rick and Jim. I didn’t get a chance to talk with “AKMA”:http://akma.disseminary.org/ or “Jenny”:http://www.theshiftedlibrarian.com/ two bloggers I read regularly, or the other dozen or so attendees so I view that as a missed opportunity.
Dinner was good, conversation was good, fun time all around. Unfortunately there were a lot of digital cameras out so I suspect I’ll see myself on someone’s weblog stuffing some Kung Pao ungracefully into my mug. Ugh, nobody said there were going to be pictures. 🙂
There were two books that I heard a few different people mention that I’ll be looking into, David Allen’s
I should be writing some more about some of things we discussed. Fascinating meet-up.

More on Chicago Bloggers
Hey, I didn’t know there’s a Chicago Blogmap ! Too bad it doesn’t show the full Metra line, because then I could get close to being on it.
More on the Chicago Blogger dinner
It was nice to finally connect some faces to words and meet some new folks. I have been reading Rick Klau, Jim McGee, AKMA and Jenny Levine’s blogs for almost three years since moving to Chicago, but had not met in person. There were several new faces …
I had no clue this was going on… darn, I would have taken a trip to Chitown for this for sure.
A good time was had by all! I gave my pictures to Ernie! He’s going to post them this weekend. There are some pretty good shots of everyone. I had a great time, no plans to be back in Chicago anytime soon, but if I am a blogger dinner will be a must do event.
